WRDA’s Vision, Mission, Ethos and Values and Strategic Plan 2005-2010

WRDA Vision

WRDA’s vision is of a society where women are confident, valued and respected and occupy visible positions of power and influence in all areas of life

WRDA Mission

WRDA’s mission as a regional organisation is to advance women’s equality and participation in society by working to bring about social, political and economic change

WRDA’s Ethos and Values

  1. Our belief that all women have the right to dignity, equality and respect is at the heart of WRDA's work.
  2. We work to a feminist perspective, informed by women's experience, recognising that inequality is based on and sustained by structures and systems which limit personal choice and freedom.
  3. We believe that women's rights are central and implicit in the pursuit of human rights for all.
  4. We believe positive action is a core element in advancing women's equality.
  5. We promote and practice participation, inclusion, consultation and collaboration, which builds solidarity as a means to effect social change in all the work we undertake.
  6. WRDA represents the interests of the Women's Sector in an informed and authoritative manner and offers leadership and support.
  7. The WRDA recognises and values the multiple roles of women in society and promotes respect for diversity.
  8. We acknowledge that women face particular challenges as part of a society emerging from a conflict situation.
  9. We subscribe to the principles and actions of the United Nations Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) and other international commitments promoting women's rights.
