Community Direct

Mission Statement

Community Direct aims to provide all its customers (Statutory, Voluntary, and Private Sector) with a range of quality products/services that help them to address the health and social needs of people and communities across Northern Ireland.

Our health awareness programmes have been developed by experts and are designed to further the Community DirectInvesting for Health’ agenda. These programmes have been thoroughly piloted at grassroots level by professionally trained and accredited Community Facilitators. The programmes are effective because the content and delivery are shaped by an understanding of the reality of people’s lives.

The Facilitators who deliver Community Direct’s health awareness programmes share similar life experiences to the groups that statutory and voluntary organisations often find most difficult to target and serve; “hard to reach groups in disadvantaged areas”.

Community Direct is also able to provide government departments with the means to engage, consult, and interact with local communities, especially in areas of disadvantage where inequalities are greatest, helping clients meet Section 75 requirements. This service has received commendation from OFMDFM: “They provided an effective mechanism for engagement with socially excluded women and helped us access the views of women living in disadvantaged communities in both urban and rural areas throughout Northern Ireland”.

Community Facilitators have the training, flexibility and expertise to adapt the programmes to meet customers’ changing needs and priorities.

Programmes developed by Community Direct, currently available for delivery to local communities across Northern Ireland are as follows:
