WRDA Health Programmes Available
WRDA is currently providing training programmes across Northern Ireland. The Breast, Cervical and Bowel Screening Awareness Training Programme takes place over three two-hour sessions and is available to individuals and organisations working with hard to reach groups. The sessions cover: Breast Awareness and Breast Screening, including a practical demonstration on how to check your breasts and the signs and symptoms to look for; Cervical Screening, including what happens at a smear test, the types of results and what they mean; and Bowel Cancer Screening, including the signs and symptoms to look out for and how to take the screening test. WRDA also has funding to run our Parents Promoting Sexual Health Programme in the Belfast and Northern Trust areas, and funding to run Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing Programmes in the Northern Health Trust. “Let’s Talk” - Parents Promoting Sexual Health is a five session programme which aims to: raise awareness and knowledge of sexual health amongst adults, and increase the confidence of participants to communicate with their children and teenagers about relationships, sexuality and sexual health.“Minding Me” is a six session Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing Programme which looks at: what is mental health, what is mental illness, self-esteem, influencing mental health, stress and stressors, and coping strategies. WRDA Programmes are delivered by experienced trainers, qualified to Level 3 in Training and Development through WRDA’s Community Facilitators Training Programme, and provide employment for local women whilst building Community Capacity.
