We believe that education is a key factor in addressing the marginalisation of women and offer a range of training programmes women and community groups can avail of.
On successful completion of our Community Facilitator Programme women will gain a Level 3 Certificate in Learning and Development which enables and empowers local women to deliver awareness raising sessions in their own communities. We also provide high quality training for community based women from Health Awareness to Good Relations training. Our ground breaking Breast and Cervical Screening Awareness programme stresses the importance of screening and debunks myths surrounding cancer while our Special Clinics in partnership with Action Cancer offer screening for women who have difficulty accessing the service. Other training offered ranges from Sexual Health Promotion to Cardiovascular Disease Awareness. We can also provide health promotion stands for open days or health days as necessary, providing information on our programmes and health issues affecting women.
Our training is based on peer education and focuses on creating an environment where women feel safe to speak openly and learn from others experiences. Our programmes are all delivered by our Community Facilitators and concentrate on what really matters: women supporting women.
Through our Social Economy, Community Direct, we offer training programmes to a wider community audience and Public Sector organisations. Community Direct also offers a range of bespoke workplace training that can be tailored to individuals organisations needs.
We work alongside many other women’s organisations and centres offering training and support. Through our Regional Women’s Centres Learning Partnership ‘Live and Learn Project’ we provide over 3,000 training places for women on both accredited and non-accredited courses each year.
