European Integration Fund
Open for Applications Application Deadline: 16th May 2012 @ 4pm Grant Value: £200,00 The UK Border Agency is inviting proposals for projects to be supported through the European Fund for the Integration of Third Country Nationals. The UK Border Agency will be administering the United Kingdom’s allocation of resources from the European Integration Fund with approximately £22 million available for new projects in 2011/2012 in the 3 areas listed below.There is £3.2m available for projects that prepare third-country nationals for their integration into the UK by supporting pre-travel measures which enable them to acquire basic knowledge about the UK's: A budget of £17.4m is available for projects that will: address capacity issues in respect of language learning; develop process and programmes that help new migrants and specific targeted groups of disadvantaged migrants to become full and active members of UK society; enable newly arrived third-country nationals to fulfil the criteria for citizenship; and develop programmes that provide opportunities for third-country nationals and members of the receiving community to interact with each other.
Finally there is £1.4m available for projects that will develop actions which enhance the knowledge and skills of national and local government officials in developing policy concerned with integration and building intercultural competence . For example, the development of written guidance and training programmes. Applicants can apply for a minimum of £200,000 per project and there is no maximum amount. Applications are welcomed from non-governmental organisations, charities, academic institutions, local government, inter-governmental organisations, limited companies and any partnership made up of these organisations. Under EU Funding rules, the amount applied for must be matched with funds from other non-European Union sources (either 25% or 50%, depending on whether specific priorities are met, as described in the application pack ). Limavady – Good Relations Funding Programme
Open for Applications Application Deadline: 18th May 2012 at 3pm Grant Value: £1,000 Grants are available for community based projects in line with Limavady Borough Council's Good Relations Strategy. The aim of the scheme is to support projects and activities in line with the Council's Good Relations Strategy that will benefit Limavady and its residents. Grants are awarded for projects under the following themes: Leading for a Shared Society. Engaging People in Good Relations. Building and Promoting the use of Shared and Consensual Space.
Grants are available for projects in the following categories: Single Identity Work: Activities which do not cross traditional community boundaries. Activities which serve to increase confidence within a community and help define needs and identities. The Pfizer UK Foundation was established in 2005 to support healthcare organisations in the UK working at a local level to address health inequalities resulting from social, economic, cultural and demographic factors. The community-based projects supported tackle those health inequalities in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales that fall outside core NHS statutory funding. The Pfizer UK Foundation donates £1 million in grants each year to community projects addressing health inequalities experienced by thousands of people across the UK. The scheme is intended to see the development of up to 30 shared housing schemes over the next three years, in order to overturn the legacy of communities living separately as a result of The Troubles. The Programme will provide grants to enable community organisations to celebrate diversity and bring people together through cultural awareness, community events and community relations training. Training and on-the-ground practical support will be provided via a dedicated team of Cohesion Advisers and it is hoped community consultations will help groups design their own Neighbourhood Charters and deliver their own Good Relations programmes. Energy Efficient Venues Open for Applications Application Deadline: 1st June 2012 at 12pm Grant Value: £2,000 - £10,000 and £15,000 - £50,000 Improving energy efficiency within community venues across Northern Ireland Efficient Venues will pay for community organisations to carry out works to their venue to make them more environmentally-friendly and energy-efficient. As well as benefiting the environment, this programme will help community organisations save on their heating and lighting costs. The outcome of the Energy Efficient Venues programme is:Organisations have been supported to create energy efficient community venues across Northern Ireland. Grants of £2,000 - £10,000 and grants of £15,000 - £50,000 are available for groups to carry out improvements such as double glazing, upgrading insulation, or installing a more efficient heating system. If the venue is already energy efficient, a grant could give organisations the opportunity to install solar panels, wind turbines, or biomass technologies such as wood pellet boilers. You can choose to make one grant application, for either a small grant or a large grant. If you are applying for a £15,000 - £50,000 grant you will need to have carried out an energy audit and obtained any necessary statutory permissions before sending us your application. If you want to make two applications (for a small grant followed by a large grant, or two small grants) you will need think about whether you have enough time to do this. The aim of the scheme is to offer women within the nationalist and unionist communities the opportunity to gain recognised accredited qualifications or awards in physical activity and sport, increasing their potential for volunteering and employment within their communities. There is no maximum amount. Comic Relief was set up in 1985 to tackle poverty and promote social justice. Mental Health This programme aims to promote the rights and support the recovery of people who have mental health problems, and to help them feel more included in society. It also aims to reduce the stigma and discrimination faced by people with mental health problems. Sport for Change The aim of this programme is to understand more about how sport can: play a part in delivering positive change within the lives of individuals and communities; and be used to tackle identified social issues as part of a broader programme to achieve a measurable social change. Older People’s Programme ‘Managing Money Better’. The programme will help older people (65+) cope with the challenges of this particularly harsh financial climate and the resultant exclusion and hardship it is causing. Refugee and Asylum Seeking Women This programme aims to provide support for refugee and asylum seeking women who have experienced rape, torture and other forms of violence in their home countries. Comic Relief are especially keen to make sure that women get the help they need in making their claims for asylum, and also get access to emotional and practical services they need to help rebuild their lives. There are two strands to the programme: • Crisis Support: funding support services for refugee and asylum-seeking women that help them cope with the trauma they have experienced; this could include counselling or group work, legal support that recognises past trauma and enables women to disclose the full stories behind their asylum claims and health initiatives that help women with the impact of trauma on their mental and physical wellbeing. • Training: funding work to develop training and support packages that improve and embed knowledge and practice about how to work with this vulnerable group of women. Training can be targeted at refugee or mainstream organisations. Young People and Mental Health This programme aims to support work with young people aged 11-25 with current mental health problems. Sexually Exploited and Trafficked Young People This programme aims to reduce harm to young people aged 11 to 25 years of age who have been sexually exploited or trafficked. Domestic and Sexual Abuse: Young People This programme aims to fund work to support young survivors of domestic and sexual abuse aged 11-25 years. The Comic Relief definition of ‘young survivors’ includes young people who have grown up in homes where they have witnessed violence and harm, and young people directly affected by abuse caused by a family member, by an outsider such as a stranger or family friend, or as a result of their own dating experiences. Young People and Alcohol This programme aims to fund work for young people aged 11-25 years who are misusing alcohol or drinking excessively. Funding is available for services that aim to reduce the levels of young people’s drinking, create greater awareness of the dangers of harmful drinking and provide direct support to them. This could include individual and/or group work sessions or street-based outreach. Initial applications must be made via the online 'Grant Management System'. The Ireland and Northern Ireland Grant Programme, administered by the Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust (JRCT), aims to assist projects seeking to promote justice and equality within the social and political framework of society across Ireland. The Trust aims to fund work which will contribute at a strategic level to the ongoing transformation of the Northern Ireland conflict through strengthening 'new politics', fostering a culture of human rights, equality and civil liberties, supporting initiatives which promote a shared understanding of the root causes of past violence and work to strengthen citizens engagement on social justice issues, particularly from marginalised groups. The Trust has the following five priority areas: Strengthening ‘new politics’ in Northern Ireland - This includes work to promote democratic reform, more inclusive and participatory governance, anti-sectarian political leadership and policy-making, and the demilitarisation of politics. Work that addresses Northern Ireland’s politics from a broader perspective (North-South, East-West, or in the context of the European Union) is also of interest. Fostering a culture of human rights, equality and civil liberties – This includes work which fosters cross-community consensus on, and support for, human rights, equality and civil liberties in Northern Ireland, or which encourages the governments in Dublin, Belfast and Westminster to adopt policies which strengthen a culture of human rights in Northern Ireland. Encouraging and enabling marginalised groups to play a full part in the political process and in civil society – This includes work to enable politically or socially marginalised groups to effectively and non-violently articulate their interests, engage in processes of demilitarisation and participate in the political process. Dealing with the past – The Trust is concerned primarily with work that promotes a shared understanding of the root causes of past violence, or which encourages government to implement initiatives to address the legacy of violence at a societal level. Strengthening civil society – The Trust is concerned primarily with work that facilitates strategic thinking about, and new approaches to, strengthening citizen’s engagement with government on social justice issues.

Community Relations and Cultural Diversity Grants Scheme (NI) Open for Applications Application Deadline: 14th December 2012 at 5pm Grant Value: £10,000 Financial assistance is available to help voluntary and community groups in Northern Ireland develop their capacity to engage in community relations work. The Community Relations Council, with the support of Government, has established a small grants fund, the Community Relations and Cultural Diversity Grants Scheme, to support community relations projects. Grants are available to voluntary and community organisations to enable them to develop their capacity to engage in community relations work and enhance the community relations potential of projects they undertake. The scheme is aimed primarily at adults; however youth may be eligible for funding. The scheme is aimed at locally based voluntary and community groups such as: Community development groups. Cultural organisations. Women's groups. Church groups. Tenants associations. Other organisations and groups involved in community relations, reconciliation projects and cultural engagement.
Project objectives should match at least one of the following objectives: Develop opportunities for groups to explore their own cultures, beliefs and traditions increasing their capacities to develop relations with those from other cultures. Develop opportunities for groups to extend their knowledge and understanding of others' culture, beliefs and traditions. To enable groups to challenge stereotypes of their own and other communities. To increase confidence of groups and organisations to identify issues which divide them. To develop networks of communication, trust and co-operation between divided communities. To promote models of good practice for community relations work in Northern Ireland.
The scheme is aimed primarily at projects involving adults. Groups whose main work is with children or youth may be eligible for funding by the Department of Education, Education and Library Boards or the Youth Council. The Community Relations Council, with support from the Victims Liaison Unit, has established the Victims and Survivors Development Fund to support healing and recovery work with victims and survivors of the Northern Ireland Troubles. The Scheme seeks to ensure fair access to support victims and survivors of the troubles and help them become active members of society.
The scheme is targeted at supporting groups which are made up of victims, or are working with victims. Priority will be given to groups who work with those who, during the course of the Troubles, have lost close relatives or had close relatives injured, or been injured or traumatised as a result of community conflict. Eligible applicants should be locally or regionally based constituted voluntary and community victims groups working with victims or survivors of the Troubles. Projects should address one of the following: Demonstrate how they will help people begin to make the transition from "victim" to "survivor" as part of the process of healing and recovery. Projects and activities for victims of community conflict that will support the training of volunteers and staff in relevant support services to assist the healing and reconciliation process. Assistance with organisational development and operational/strategic planning for groups involved in supporting victims and survivors to become active members of society. Projects that will explore the causes and effects of the Troubles and which will facilitate sharing and the development of trust and understanding between participants and an awareness of their needs among the wider community. Assistance with small-scale research costs involved in evaluating the effectiveness of projects involving victims groups and the development of models of good practice. Area of Interest: Interventions that seek to support women with extreme vulnerabilities which are likely to lead to offending. Interventions that assist women leaving custody and offer support to reintegrate into the local community. Interventions that offer support to women on non-custodial sentences to prevent re-offending. Interventions offering assistance to families of the female offenders and ex-offenders particularly support for children. Interventions focusing on building the individual’s self esteem and improving their social integration.
Priority will be given to applications from: Consideration will be given to projects that are making connections or engaging with key organisations, both statutory and/or voluntary, working within the criminal justice system, health service or housing sector. The award can be part of the project’s overall costs. However an award will not be made until all the funding is in place. The application should indicate the spec of the project for which you are seeking funding. The award can be used to cover training programmes, mentoring support, volunteer expenses, residential programmes, use of the creative arts, tutor and course fees and a contribution to administration costs. The award cannot be used for equipment or capital expenditure. How to apply: Submit a 2 to 4 page application that outlines and evidences the rationale for the project or intervention. This should include a proposed project budget, the status of the group/organisation and recent set of accounts. No other material should be included at this stage. Telecommunity Funding Programme at CFNI
Application Deadline: Either before January, May or September - ongoing Grant Value: up to £3,000 The Telecommunity Programme is an ‘own name’ fund set up with capital from BT, management and unions and matched by Community Foundation funds. The programme targets work with young people (teenagers) and people with disabilities in community based organisations in areas of disadvantage. Projects need to be tackling issues relevant to people with special needs living in areas of disadvantage within Northern Ireland. The fund is keen to support initiatives that help to develop: community education and training opportunities communication and leadership skills local initiatives to improve resources and community facilities creativity and self expression through drama, music or a range of arts activities out of school projects for young people

Society for the Assistance of Ladies in Reduced Circumstances (SALRC) – Grants for Individuals
