WRDA Brainstorm for New Funding Strategy29th January 2016
WRDA staff and management committee came together for an afternoon of exploring WRDA’s future.
On 21st of January, we invited community change to our offices to assist us in the process of developing a fundraising strategy for the organisation.
The session’s objective was to explore the internal and external context that will inform the organisation’s funding strategy.
It was difficult to think outside the box, put the present on hold and envision what the future holds for WRDA. However, the session in a whole was inspiring and was a great first step to developing a successful funding strategy.
We were asked the question: ‘Where do we want WRDA to go in the next 5-10 years?’ from the perspective of funders, the organisation, users/members and the wider women’s sector. We were not just creating a vision for the future but distinguishing opportunities that WRDA could expand on.
As a group we then discussed the external enablers and hinders to these opportunities, to evaluate their potential. With the crisis the women’s sector is currently in, these are factors we most definitely need to consider.
We then reviewed what capacity we have within our organisation; what skills do we consider as used and unused. This opened our eyes to the resources we have within the organisation which are often overlooked and could be developed on.
As an organisation we are excited to see what the future brings and hope that our members feel the same.
We are scheduled to undertake a second session with community change before getting down to the work of developing a funding strategy. Watch this space.
